New Lord of the Rings TV show will focus on Aragorn

I dunno about you but I'm getting a bit tired of the endless amount of superhero-based movies and TV shows out at the moment. Thankfully it looks like we're about to get something fresh and new thanks to Amazon turning Lord of the Rings in to a billion dollar TV show.
As of yet, we don't know who's being cast but sir Ian McKellen has expressed interest in playing Gandalf. It would certainly make sense to have the original Galdalf appear in the TV show, but ho know, maybe the producers want to go in a different direction and change up the cast all together.
While no one knows yet if Gandalf, Frodo or Legolas will make an appearance in the series, Amazon have just confirmed that the show will focus on a young Aragorn, who was played by Viggo Mortensen in Peter Jackson's LOTR film's. While Amazon are keeping shtum about the show at the moment, reputable LOTR fan site The One Ring just tweeted this:

ordinarily I wouldn't take a fan site as gospel but these geeks really know their shit. I'll be looking forward to catching this when it's released. Hopefully having a billion dollar budget will mean it's seriously fucking epic! -

I enjoyed the first Lord of the Rings film, but I'm not a massive fan of the franchise. Two Towers and Return of the King were good, but I didn't love The Hobbit Trilogy. Despite that I'll still give this TV show a chance, because I love period action fantasy stuff like The Witcher and Game of Thrones. It makes a nice change of pace with so much contempary and futuristic on TV at the moment. -

Not really to do with the quality of the show but the irony of a company called Amazon adapting the works of an anti-industrialist personality like Tolkien seems to be lost on everyone.

This new sneak peak teaser doesn't really reveal too much in terms of plot or characters, but it looks like a lot of money has been spent on the cinematography, production design, costumes, visual effects and make up. I just hope a lot of time and effort has been put into writing characters that we can be emotionally invested in, and a plot that is excitingly dramatic.

They reveal a bit more about the characters and plot in this main teaser. I guess they'll release a full trailer before the show premieres in September. It'll be cool to see Sauron's rise to power.

This is the best trailer they've released so far, and it reveals a decent amount of the plot. I've never read any of Tolkien's Middle Earth books, so a lot of this will be new to me and I'm unaware of who the majority of the characters in this series are. But I'm actually looking forward to this. Hopefully they don't release loads of more trailers with tons of spoilers before it premieres, but I think they'll do at least one more in mid august or early September.

The final trailer before it's two episode premiere next week was released today. This is focused on Galadriel as it appears she'll be the main character of the show, which makes sense given that she'll be the one that most people will know from Blanchett's performances on the films. For a TV show this looks so cinematically opulent.
