  With all the superhero movies taking over the box office this year, it's about we were given a good gangster movie. Luckily for us, we're getting two! First there's Tom Hardy's flick 'Fonzo' where he plays infamous criminal, Al Capone. And then there's Gotti, a biopic about John Gotti, the infamous American gangster played by John Travolta.

  The biopic follows Gotti as he rises through the ranks of the Gambino family in New York City before eventually taking over the clan. The film is said to focus on Gotti’s relationship with his son, John Gotti Jr, who grew up in a life of crime but later decided to go on the straight and narrow. eventually opted out of it. Producer Steve Honig said:

  In 1988, at the age of 24, Gotti Jr. became a ‘made man’ and was officially inducted into the Mafia, making him the heir-apparent to head the Gambino crime family and follow in his father’s footsteps. But in 1999, Gotti Jr. paid a now-famous last visit to his imprisoned and dying father to tell him he was ending his life of crime and getting out of the family business.

  
  
  
  It sounds like it's going to be pretty amazing. I love a good gangster film. We're definitely in need of another classic such Goodfellas and Casino. Could Gotti be it?! We'll see when it hits cinemas in June 2018.

  It was meant to be a 'gangster movie classic' - up there with Casino and Goodfellas, but John Travolta's new flick Gotti, has been trashed online, earning an abysmal 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Yikes.
  
  
   
  The movie follows the life of John Gotti, the infamous gangster, and spans 36 years and sees Travolta wearing all sorts of prosthetics as he rises up the ranks of the mob. Gotti was directed by Kevin Connolly and also stars Travolta's real-life wife Kelly Preston as Gotti's wife Victoria.
  
  
   
  When I heard this movie was coming out I was pretty excited. Who doesn't love a gangster movie plus the story of Gotti is actually really interesting. Although based on these reviews, even an interesting story can be told badly and it sounds like the filmakers totally fucked this one. Johnny Oleksinski, film critic for the New York Post tore the film a new asshole:

  If you thought that was bad, Brian Orndorf of Blu-Ray.com wrote "There are 44 credited producers on the picture and not one person had the nerve to question just what kind of derivative, borderline nonsensical film was being made" and Jordan Mintzer, from the Hollywood Reporter wrote "The film is pretty terrible: poorly written, devoid of tension, ridiculous in spots and just plain dull in others." Jeez. Sounds pretty atrocious. The movie is out in the UK in September but you'd be nuts to fork out money on this when the reviews are this bad. How embarrasing. Travolta's career is going to need rescuing after this.

  He bounced back after the abyssmal version of Battlefield Earth, a decent enough book even with L. Rob Hubbard being the author.  I think he'll bounce back from this or he'll just do a Steven Segal and end his career with more awful straight to DVD/TV movies where he plays the same character with differing facial hair styles.

  Reviews as bad as this kind of make me want to watch it more. If the reviews were average I'd have been like 'Meh' but when I'm essentially being told watching it would be a waste of my time, I'm eager to see if that's true.

  i cant wait to see this movie, gangsta movies is my favorite type of movie to watch, and john travolta is a really good actor to im sure he will play the part well, and im not looking at reviews so they dont put me off

  Did happen to se this crop up, let's just say on a less than reputable site, the other day and did consider procuring it for a looksee..and then i read some of the onl;ine reviews and i swiftly moved on. The general consensous seems to be that the only good thing about the film is Travolta. Supposedly every single other conceivable element to the film is supposedly really bad. That said, will the curiosity get the better of me. Whilst everyone has differing opinions on different things, i do love to challenge the professional critics. May take the plunge if theres really nothing on this weekend (considering the decent new film drought during the summer and the unfortunate abundance of sport on tv at the moment).

  i try to stay away from online reviews if its a movie like gotti that i want to see, i seen some one sided reviews before and then i watch the movie and i like it, so ill stay away from them until i see it, but i still think it will be good

  It's annoying, especially with sites like 'IMDB' as although seems like a logical source to check out not only critics reviews but, most importantly, the reviews of us ordinary folk..you do have to ask yourself if many of the reviews are fake or biased ones associated with those that either want to see the film succeed or fail. Have just, er, procured this (as basically theres bugger all else..as a movie and tv show fan, summer sucks). Will aim to give this a looksee over the weekend.

  aS promised, the fam and i did give this a looksee the other day..and regretably wound up switching it off prematurely (40 or so minutes in if memory serves). Granted John Travlta proved that he still has the acting chops (of the ilk that should see him still get offered the major roles). That said his character is kinda one dimensional, the supportin cast and the plot as a whole seemed disjointed..and ultimately i just wound up getting bored. A gangster movie classic this most definitly is not. A shame but looks as the the professional critics got it rght on this occassion.

  i know about imdb but i dont really go on there that much i just feel like those sites probably got bots making up reviews, cuz i listened to reviews before and when watch the movie im like wdf is u talking about its was good/bad
