  Well based on that hint and how the quote sounded, i would guess Escape from New York? i`m not entirely sure though i think i`ve only ever seen that film once and that was quite a long time ago, but i might as well guess just incase i am right, not sure what else Kurt Russell was in during the 80`s.

  Hope that's a suitable effort, it should be fairly easy, but then i would say that, i know the film.

  By any chance is it an old film if it is then I'm going for a complete guess and go for a fighting film called street fighter I may be totally off but I got to start some where

  It is an 80's film and has a large number of well known people in it, the genre is action. although very few films are like this one in the type of action provided.

  I haven't seen them in years, so don't judge me if I've got this wrong, but is it one of the Lethal Weapon films? Maybe Lethal Weapon 1? They're the main ones I can think of that match your criteria. Or it could be Top Gun... let me get back to you when I've made my choice...
