  It all depends on what film genre you're into doesn't it?, I quite like action films, but there'll be others who don't, when it comes to remakes of films, I think they can go 2 ways, way 1 Total Recall, original film was brilliant, remake was total bullcrap, way 2 Judge Dredd, the original film was great don't get me wrong, but I happen to think the remake totally blitzed the original, as for a lot of newer films, they're being made with far too much CGI, it's coming to a stage where all films will just be made with computers!!

  Oh the remake for Dredd was much better than the first attempt. The CGI issue i think it depends on the film genre, comic, fantasy or sci-fi based then yes it's necessary to bring some things to life that wouldn't look as good otherwise, but yeah some directors overuse it.

  It definitely depends what kinds films your into and what time of the year it is. The end of year and start of year usually has the best films as it's awards seasons, then you have the terrible films. Summer is full of blockbusters and remakes where the studios try and make their money.

  I kinda agree with you rustee1. The beginning and close of the year a typically the reserve of christmas movies and movies trying to earn trophies of all shapes and sizes. Spring and especially summer seem to be mostly the reserve of the cash cow films. I usually gauge how strong a year in film it is for me personally based on how many visits i have bothered to make to the cinema. This year is the 1st in recent memory that i have not been even once and dont plan too (unless i have a change of heart and decide to go and see Nativity 3 this christmas lol). Some of my faves this year have been the sorts i couldnt expect such as Guardians of the Galaxy and The Wolf of Wall Street (was that released this year or last).
