Well, this was something of a left field watch for me..Disneys latest shiny, happy offering 'Moana'. I dont generally watch Disney films of this ilk, genrally ia little too sickly sweet for my liking, usually chuck em at the fam but, on seeing this available and having nothing much else to do last night, i decided to watch it with the fam..and im actually kinda glad i did. Moana, starring the vocal talents of, amongst others, the rock, is the story of In Ancient Polynesia, when a curse incurred by the Demigod Maui reaches an free spirited Chieftain's daughter's island, she answers the Ocean's call to seek out the Demigod to set things right. Does the film try and shove an enviromental message down your throats..oh yeah, is their plenty of singing and prancing about..most definatly, but you know what, it is a ery likeable film as well. A couple of the songs, dare i say it, are actually kinda catchy, the animation top notch, the story told welll and there are some genuinely funny moments (spoiler..the chicken is comic gold in this). Id actually recommend giving this a looksee, certainly if you have little ones otherwise certainly on home release.
