MATCH FIXING
jesslovestits > 04/02/2013, 20:48
I don't know if anyone has seen this but the news today there has been over 674 football matches that could have effectively been match fixed and one of them is the champions league final between Manchester United and Barcelona
Does anyone believe this ?? I do I just think it was a matter of time before all is revealed it's happened before in cricket and eventually after this scandal it'll be in a sports
These days there is zero passion in sport and money means a lot more these days -

Quite agree about no passion in sport, I am getting really disillusioned by all forms of it. Match fixing in football would not surprise me, although the Champions League Final would, as there is so much money bet on contests. There are so many sports now that are tainted by cheating that you have to wonder if any of it is real.
My favourite sport is cycling, something I love to do and to watch, but I feel totally let down by it.
Oh well, watch the girls on Rampant again, I suppose. -

Yes that is true most sports are just getting too commercial these days but there is sports stars like David Beckham that you have to respect. He's given so much too football and I hope one day that he gets his sport in that England team again

Saw this article this morning and had a little flick through. Surprised to see nearly every part of football being manipulated, match officials, presidents, etc. But we all know how corrupt the world organisations are, Qatar winning the world cup bid pretty much speaks for itself ey!
Well I guess Mourinho got it spot on about Barcelona being fixed to win the Champions Leaugem if there is some truth to these stats ofcourse! -

Haha I feel that this investigation should be investigated heavily and no matter who's at fault just ban them from the sport and don't let them to come back. Even if it is the worlds greatest like messi or fergie. Just get rid of them don't mess around like cricket has done with the Pakistanis giving them 5 years or 10 just ban them. They are a complete disgrace -

Who's going to investigate it though. I believe the corruption is pretty much through and through all levels, so any 'committee' set up internally is just going to be a farce, and I can't see the guys in charge wanting any external snoops in, although if they did, who's to say they wouldn't be bribed also??
The single fact is that now, football is business is money. Where money is involved, corruption is just around the corner, or even closer...
I don't think it can be fixed as easily as banning or imprisioning a few people. In fact I personally don't think it can be fixed. The people in charge may utter words that are spoken to soothe the outcrys, but they have it cushy and don't want it to change do they?
SO everyone stop going to matches, stop buying exorbitantly priced replica shirts etc.. and go follow other sports, take their life blood away and they will have to sit up and listen, but that again will never happen will it! -

Woah Liverpool haha and as a man united fan I dislike Liverpool but love Steven Gerrad he's a quality player and he's done so much for Liverpool and so much England he's provided great entertainment to the footballing world. Have to feel for him abit by not winning too many trophies as he would have liked -

Read the articles and get the facts at least correct. Liverpool were involved in the match but there was not indication that they had anyhting to do with the fixing . The other team were form Hungary and it was their side that was supposed to have been got at. Sadly I have seen all of this type of story many times and while it makes for a few days great headlines there does not (except in Italy it seems) ever seem to be enough real proof to be able to show that it happened . I would say that most if not all Premier League football was honest but it would not surprise me to be proved wrong. -

Personally I think they should be some sort of punishment for players! If they ever get caught they should be banned from playing the sport. I mean look at the Pakistan cricket team bloody 2 of the idiots are out of jail. They should be in there for longer and shouldn't dare to think to play the game
They put cricket in the headlines for the wrong reasons
