Have finally gotten around to watching the remaining episodes of season 1 and, have got to admit, i didnt hate the finale. There was certainly plenty happening (and kinda fitting that the final battle of sorts occured in such a familiar but unexpected location). Whinge time though..that note worthy death at the tail end of the episode really did feel very underwhelming despite the build. Also, it appears that the villians of the piece as far as season 2 goes have already been established and for me, that are simply not strong enough, character wise, to hold that kind of role. Hopefully that element will be expanded upon in the inevitable season 2.
