  I can see what he is trying to do - create a northern tiki-taka team - and I know it takes time to do so, especially with players not used to it. But a lot of my criticism has to come down the mood he is creating. Jurgen Klopp's win % at Liverpool is about the same as LVG at United (I was surprised by this, shows how much media bias for/against people effects viewpoint), but he has got people behind him, showing some passion for the club and you can tell the players want to do it for him. With Van Gaal it's not so clear.

  
  Hang on a sec though! How long has Klopp been at Liverpool compared to LVG at Utd?!?

  Id say stick Mourinho in and see what happens... if LVG goes of course ;)
  And id love to know who the fly on the wall is who keeps giving the media all the stories of what LVG and Woodward are having for breakfast.. so on :P

  About 3 times as long, so definitely more time to implement his strategy. But Klopp has still had a fair few games, enough to form an initial comparison. I'm not saying its completely like-for-like but its interesting to look at.

  I would probably still rather have Klopp btw. I'm just saying that a lot of Van Gaals criticism is based on the poor mood around him, the lack of passion and spirit, rather than his results necessarily.

  I don't think anyone's knocking LVG for what he did last season.  Steadied the ship, got them back in the Champions League, it's just that this year (especially given the money spent) you'd have expected United to kick on, not regress.  
  
  Klopp's come in mid-season and inherited a massively unbalanced squad so I don't think it's really fair to judge too harshly on his record so far.  Give him a full summer to clear out the deadwood and bring his own players in, and who knows, maybe next year will be their year? (sarcasm)

  As I said, I wasn't trying to say Klopp is doing badly, or should be receiving a lot more stick or anything. Was just an interesting stat to look at for comparison.
  
  I completely agree its about the lack of progress. If there were signs of improvement I wouldn't worry too much about results. But so far......

  was stuck at work this evening during tonights fa cup game, however good result would really love a good fa cup run, its been 12 years since ManUtd lifted the fa cup

  anyway he seems to believe Manchester United are planning a £30m move for Renato Sanches of Benfica, £30m just seems way too much for a 18 year old, considering how much Martial cost.

  Regardless of what happens between now and May, it's a given that LVG will go on his way in the summer. Frankly, he has been an abject failure and an expensive one at that. I can't think that many of his signings would get into other top four sides, perhaps Schneiderlin in Arsenal but that's it, so he has bought badly and seems to be unwilling to accept this

  thats what LVG does though, he spends a tonne of money and then i dont think its a matter of his managment ability i think he generally got lucky with all the clubs he had been,
  
  dunno why he picked up Schneiderlin, and Swignteisger (i cant spell that name lol dunno why i even attempted it) last summer, if we were really going for youth i really think we should have invested the money like he did with Martial on the talented belgian midfielder playing for Anderlect Youri Tielemens
