I genuinely hope man utd come up trumps and win, its going to be tough for madrid in the second leg but both teams are capable of almost any result at this level (within reason).
Im surprised how teams like barca/real/bayern etc play really well in europe considering their domestic leagues are far less challenging than the premiership. -

i wouldn't be so quick to say they are FAR less challenging. the reason they play well in europe is because they are great teams, and obviously on average no worse than any premiership team. in 2009 and 2011 barca beat man u with the same ease they beat "lesser" teams in the spanish league... -

This is definitely the biggest match of the season so far.
I can see man utd winning the game but as a neutral i would like to see another 1 -1 scoreline so it goes to extra time and even penalties.
Real Madrid, in my opinin, are an all round better team than barcelona, so if man utd can go through, i would have them joint favourites with bayern munich for the trophy.
Would also be intersting to see cristiano ronaldo playing at old trafford and if he delivers, would love to see him back in the premier league in the near future. -

I do totrally agree and maybe far less challenging was an overstatement, but the way man utd perform week in week out against relatively better teams should put them in good stead in european matches.
Obviously anything can happen and I wouldnt be surprised with any realistic result in this game but I do feel that mid table prem teams would be up in the 4-7th places in these leagues. -

well basically now we will never know who the best team was on 05.03.2013 because the referee totally fvcked it.
from here on in, you could argue forever about who is the better team. madrid scored two fantastic goals, but only after utd went a man down and they had no real chances before that. and you could just feel it. the energy changed radically after the sending off.
what was the ref thinking... it wasn't a split second decision either, dude took his time and everything.
madrid's keeper saved them afterwards. i feel for united -

The ref ruined that game.
One poor decision completely turned the game on its head.
Man utd looked reasonably comfortable until the red card, which i think should be a yellow at most, then Madrid were all over them for 15-20 minutes.
I hope now Man Utd have the league wrapped up that they play some english youngsters to let them gain experience. -

I can see why the card was given (Roy keane scared me into admitting it), but it still seemed harsh. A yellow card would have been enough. It was a 50/50 ball, nani was only looking to play the ball plus it was such an important match that I think referee could've shown a little more leniency.
Also, RAY!!! You're back! Where have you been man?!
