  A great start to the tour for the Lions as they beat Australia 23-21 in a close-fought tie in Brisbane.
  
  George North an Alex Cuthbert both scored tries, while Leigh Halfpenny hit the mark with 5 penalties.
  
  Kurtley Beale missed two late penalties for Australia, had he converted either of them, the tie would have swung in their favour.
  
  Tense stuff.

  A great but lucky start for the Lions, even though everyone was talking about them being huge favourites?!? The Lions were slow off the mark and if the Wallabies had their kicking boots on, we'd have been looking at a stuffing. Thank goodness for Halfpenny, although they failed to beat the bookies handicap which was set at 3 ~ 4 point win for the Lions :-(
  That should be their wake up call now, and hopefully will crunch the Wallabies in game 2.

  If the Australian backline were not initially started mostly all out of position and if those injuries had not occured, the Aussies would have put 20 plus points past what to be honest is a very average team. The Australian backline just oozes skill and class, and next weeks reputed backs look a frightening prospect.

  Gatland is making a mess of this. His selections have been wrong in both tests. Also the lineout has been terrible. Its amazing that we have no hooker who can throw to the back of the lineout with any accuracy. Its going to be a massive challenge next week. Australia will be favourites but if the correct team is selected then the Lions can still do it.

  Team spirit seems good still, reckon they'd have took a last match decider before the tour started.
  
  The Lions are set for the "biggest game of their lives" in Saturday's final Test with Australia, says assistant coach Graham Rowntree.
  The series is level at one game apiece after the hosts replied with a gritty 16-15 second Test victory following the Lions' 23-21 triumph in the opener.
  "Seeing how we've trained, we're ready for this battle," said the 42-year-old.

  It's looking good. 16-34 to the Lions with 15 minutes to go.

  Looking good indeed with a 41-16 win and as you say, the first series win in 16 years. A superb second half - after leading 19-10 at half time - with three scores in 12 minutes, put the final nail in the coffin for the Aussies.
  Man of the match Leigh Halfpenny sets some records to have 21 points, 1 more than the previous record of 20 held jointly by Wilkinson and Stephen Jones and also a series record of 49 points, beating previous best 41 by Neil Jenkins.
  
  It's a series win and that's what counts, but boy, was they lucky in that first test...
  
  Australia captain James Horwill said he believed too many errors cost them a series win,,, Yep, that's about it mate...
  "We had too many errors early on and we gave them a head start," said Horwill.
  "We started the second half like we wanted to start the game and then we let them get away with it and they were too good.
  "We dug deep and we tried as much as we could. I'm very proud of every single one of my players, but in the end you would have to say that the better team on the night won."
