Lion

Have got to admit, i did have some preconceptions about 'Lion'. On reading the synopsis, reading it as 'boy gets lost, grows up elsewhere and then tries to find his way home later in life'..it sounded dull as. Saw the filmĀ available and thought, despite my preconceptions 'why not, nothing else to do'. You know what, i kinda glad i took a chance. The film, starring Dev Patel, Rooney Mara and Nicole Kidman tells of A five-year-old Indian boy who gets lost on the streets of Calcutta, thousands of kilometers from home. He survives many challenges before being adopted by a couple in Australia; years later, he sets out to find his lost family. I/we did enjoy the film but agreed we would never feel the need to watch it again. Why an enjoyable film, the film does lose a lot of steam after the first act with him as a young boy when he first gets lost. Once grown up (the 2nd act of sorts), things become settled, almost muddled with many insignificant elements which feel like little more than filler. As such the third and final act doesnt have the level of emotion you'd expect it to. If anything, the young version ofthe character delivers a far more emotive performance than any of his adult co stars (including even his older self). That said, this is still a very watchable, likeable film..but liable to be easily forgettable as well..its certainly not the emotive powerhouse that the critics are making it out to be. Side note : WHATS WITH ALL THE FUCKING SPAMMERS OF LATE..WISH THEY WOULD ALL JUST FUCK OFF AND POST THEIR SHITTY ADS SOMEWHERE ELSE..OR NOT AT ALL WOULD BE BETTER.
