A little unbecoming for a club of their means perhaps, scratching around in the junk food market, but we can't be too surprised these days. FFP and that.

The man was an idiot. Newcastle made more signings this summer without a director of football who could "pick up the phone to any manager in the world" than they did with him. I suspect his whole appointment was a cost saving exercise by Mike Ashley, as he thought there wouldn't be many transfers brought "over the line" with him in place.
