Ahhh.. the PM acts in the interest of our safety. Finally. he quarantines those coming from Spain. not just the regions affected i.e. the North East,
Catalonia, Aragon, Barcalona. No he has imposed restrictions on the whole country. the whole massive country. it is a big place Spain, the islands are almost untouched by the Covid. it is safer there than the UK in fact you have more chance catching the virus on the plane getting there than picking it up there. it is safer for the british to go there than it is for the Spanish who are bringing in British people. Andalucia in the south too safe. i have been saying about local lockdowns and this is just blanket non-sense. no need. it should have been localized to the regions in question. it is like the government have 2 cards in their pack. lockdown / quarantine and they do not know when to play them.

you may have noticed that the country of Viet nam has now reported fatalities 2 ( two ) The country, which has a population of around 95 million, has reported just 546 cases since the pandemic began.
Unlike many the UK , Vietnam acted before it even had confirmed cases, closing its borders early to almost all travellers, except returning citizens. Anyone entering the country must quarantine in government facilities for 14 days and undergo testing.
these cases were both men one was in his 70s and the other in his 6os and both had underlying health conditions. they recently had a patient on the critical list for 4 weeks. ( british as it happens ) and the whole country was behind him, he was cheered out of the hospital on national news. ( contrast that with areas of the UK where 'DO NOT RESUSCITATE ' notices were put on some patients over 56 years of age in certain areas.
also they have an outbreak. 30 people in Da Nang they totally locked the area down and even evacuated tens of thousands of people.
it was possible to contain this virus. it just needed a government who put its people first.

as you may know. i have been railing against this governments inept performance over the Covid 19 which has led to so many extra deaths. now it is no longer just me.
A commons home affairs committee has said that the spread of the virus was faster here because of the slowness to impose quarantine early enough ( what a surprise ), They have highlighted 'CRITICAL ERRORS" including the decision to lift all border restrictions in March which the committee says ACCELERATED THE SCALE AND PACE OF THE VIRUS. to be honest i think critical errors is generous. i do not think they made errors they just evaluated which they preferred. dead pensioners or an economy in lockdown.
the government has dismissed it and said they were 'guided by the science' ??? Which science is that ? what science allows plane loads of people into a country carrying the most deadly, most virulent, most infectious disease for 100 years.

I have criticized our government for their failings and the excess number of deaths i believe they are responsible for. but there is enough stupidity to go around. remember wetherspoon boss Tim Martin saying there had been 'no transmission of coronavirus in bars' he followed that up with a softer there has 'hardly been any' transmission of coronavirus in pubs. a wetherspoons pub in cumbria shut because one of the bar staff tested positive. fair enough it could not be proved that the bar staff member caught it in the bar. but last weekend in Aberdeen a cluster of 27 cases 13 were linked to the same bar. okay he wants to run a business and it is difficult to pin down where the virus was passed. but how about using common sense ? obviously something so infectious can be passed on with people in close proximity to each other. if they cannot keep their staff safe and seem not to care about their customers i cannot see me spending money in wetherspoons for a long time,

Dominic Raab, you remember him he came last in the tory leadership election and performed so bad that the Lib Dems almost unseated him from his tory stronghold at the last election, still he is safe in the cabinet though, the only requirement there is to be a brexiteer, anyway he was on tv tonight saying how well the UK was doing in the fight againt covid 19. but wait. the infection rate is rising at an alarming rate. it was 1000 a day. yesterday 1800 a day and is now 3000 a day, does he think that is good. no what he thinks is good is that the hospital admission rate is down. so it is nothing to do with the government controlling the virus rather that it is just being caught by young people who are not affected by it. now why is it just young people ? is it because they did such a poor job of protecting the vulnerable in those 'RING FENCED'' care homes that we have already lost our elderly. this countries mortality rate dwarfed that of any other country, typically in other countries it is 3% or lower. here 16%, but now it is getting better, of course because we have lost our elderly relatives but our hospital admissions are now low as those at need of protection were thrown under the omnibus and so we have a successful government policy.

HANDS - FACE - SPACE,,,,, MOONSHOT
Anyone thing that BJ got the new message on his desk. just saw the word 'space' had no idea what it was about and just shouted 'moonshot'
if you have read my previous posts you will know i championed local lockdowns months before they came in. But not these wishy-washy limp lockdowns which nobody ( certainly not me ) seems to know the rules of. there are different lockdown rules in different areas. i myself do not live in a lockdown area but the other week i was in a taxi, making conversation with the driver ( "have you been busy tonight" ) and it turned out his area was in lockdown. yet he was okay to leave that area and taxi multiple people around.
the local lockdowns are not being taken as seriously as the national lockdown. in italy when they had a local lockdown in lombardy no one was allowed to leave the area. trains did not leave or arrive. i saw on the news that the roads were not blocked but the people were obeying and there were no cars travelling in or out. our government is still not taking it seriously , even after 40,000 plus deaths. this thing is highly contagious and they are allowing people to move around freely in areas with the infection, they allowed it to get into the care homes god forbid it gets into a hospital.

THREE WHEELS ON MY WAGON,,,
Some posts ago on this thread i speculated that the tories support for Boris was waning, now we have tories from all wings of the tory party attacking him. Some are unhappy about the quarantine for people coming from abroad and how that will affect our trade while the economy is recovering from covid. Even some of the brexiteers are unhappy. they apparently were under the illusion that a trade deal with europe would be easy, but now with the very real prospect of no trade deal and also the problem with aviation they are having second thoughts. So too many stalwart tories who are not happy with the government about to break international law. asking the pertinent question "if we cannot keep to international law who will do a deal with us" of course we have an 'unwritten' deal with Japan but still it is a relevant point. we could lose out on trade deals with europe and be left without deals with anyone else ( fear not we have done trade deals with Botswana and the Faroe Islands so all is not lost ). 2 wheels on my ,, , , , , , , ,, ,,

you know what. i really do not want to be writing on here. i do not want to be criticising a government while people are dying as is the economy. i would really like it if they did something. i mean took some action. did you see boris wednesday night. doing his churchillian bit. " we must take action,,," "a stitch in time saves 9,,," " the fight against covid is not over,,," and this action he has taken. Pubs will close at 10 p.m . that'll do it then.

and so hallowe'en is approaching. this year the kids will not be knocking on doors saying 'trick or treat' but rather 'track and trace'. mind you they would do a better job than this government . remember they said we would have a 'world beating track and trace system' so apparently the next best after us has lost the results of over 17,000 positive tests.
how about that. they struggled meeting their own targets and then when they carried out the tests 16,000 POSITIVE results went missing . 16000 people interacting with other people with no idea they were carrying a potentially life threatening illness. world beating. hardly. par for the course, yes.
