A rectangle is as good as we need. If there is more screen I see no harm. That dip on the X model will irritate some but not everyone.

EE shop in town wouldnt let me spend £800 outright to buy the iphone 8 plus yeserday lol when i was trying to give my money to them, they didnt want it, cause they were saving there phones for people buying them on upgrades and new contracts sigh

finally picked up my iphone 8 plus, nice of EE to boost me up to 100gb data :S i dont even come close to using that but ok lol, its that annual upgrade i was more sold on.

There saying on the iPhone X, that because of that side dip or notch whatever you want to call it, apps and websites will look differently,

websites will have a additional border when viewing them, similar to like the black bars when you watch a 480p video on a widescreen tv lol
