A Kickstarter campaign has allowed a hoverboard called the Hendo Hover to be built. It floats and can support up to a 250 pound rider. The technology that allows it to float is called "Magnetic Field Architecture" which uses electromagnets that are attached to the base of the board that repel any non-ferrous (that means it does not contain a significant amount of iron) conductive surface.
It should allow a new generation of lift and motion technology and could be used in other applications such as business, industry etc.
Soon, we'll get to fly around with our own hoverboards. -

so I can hover on ANY surface that doesn't contain iron? Like, Cheese? or like water? or like Potatoes?
Seen this on the news and pretty sure it can only hover on a special metallic/copper surface. -

Yeah, it has a lot of flaws but at the same time, so does everything when they are done for the first time -

Saw the video with tony hawks, can't see this being viable though, It also isnt a traditional hoverboard I'd like to see it at least a foot off of the ground either way its a cool little invention..Wonder if it works off of magnets though
