It’s hard to tell whether we’re looking at a sequel or a reboot disguised as a sequel these days. I guess the argument is that if it’s this many years on then it was never intended to be a sequel and instead a play on monetising nostalgia and in this case, by very much bringing old characters back to life.

Hocus Pocus was a great movie for those young and old and I’m really hoping this will be the same.

I've never seen the original but I'll give this a chance because of Midler, Parker and Najimy. The trend of legacy sequels like Top Gun Maverick, Jurassic Park Dominion, Blade Runner 2019, Mad Max Fury Road and Halloween continues to trade on nostalgia being enough to get the fans of the originals who are now parents to watch them with their children.
