  Lots of potential gems to check out there. I have chappie waiting in my, to be watched, pile. Mate has watched it and informed me it was 2 hours that he would never get back. Still, i enjoyed District 9 and kinda enjoyed Elysium so has gotta be worth a butchers. Will have to start checking out some of these.

  Was trawling through the listings for the horror channel the other day and saw that this was on. Decided to take the plunge, wasnt expecting too much but was pleasently suprised. Evil Aliens, released in 2005 and starring Horror Channel low budget film regular Emily Booth (yum) is definitly worth a look. It may have no budget, the effects may be ropey at best and no one would ever win any kind of acting award for this..but its just got that something. Recomended.

  Actually watched that show Enemy, with Jake Gyllenhaal, just the other day and thought it was excellent. Definitely worth a watch.
  
  I not sure if you've all watched any tartan extreme stuff, most likely have...but the revenge trilogy is definitely worth a look

  Sympathy for Lady Vengeance (2005)
  
  Oldboy was remade there, i wouldn't even look at it, not a patch on the original in my opinion

  Ok i think some users have completely misunderstood this thread. This thread is titled Hidden Gems for a reason. Movies that many audiences have missed because of limited release or lack of marketing.
  
  Not movies that you thought would be shit but was okay. We are talking about films that are fucking fantastic and i know it's subjective an all but seriously please think hard about the movies you post!
  
  In my honest opinion "Evil Aliens" looks like a piece of shit of a movie! "5 to 7" isn't a great movie. The last 30 mins suck balls. "Oldboy", now that's a gem!

  Oh, Evil Aliens is a little gem in my opinion Randy Marsh. On the face of it thought it would be cheap as chips and a bag of shite at the same time. Decided to give it a look and was glad i did. Gotta be atleast an occassional fan of cheesy, no budget, over the top gore, so bad its good. Occassionally the channel throws up a sleeper gem..this is such a film. Above all else it was very entertaining (even if it doesnt always mean to be). Im sorry, orionmetus but i personally thought that Enemy was really bad. Cant all like the same stuff though can we. A shame as im a fan of many of Jake Gylenhall's films (none more so than Donnie Darko though).

  Ah of course man, the joys of opinion. I wouldn't even remotely take it personally. Liked Enemy so much I think i'm going to give the book a read when i'm done with the one i'm on. Really well paced crazy look at the repetitiveness of things, but it think the book could give a little more than just visually.
  
  
  And hidden gems - There's a french tv series called the Returned. Definitely worth a watch. There's also a remake, but I normally tend to find they're never as good

  There's a terrible American remake of "The Returned". Unfortunately i can't stand the French language so i doubt i will ever give that series a chance!

  Perhaps i was a little hasty with Enemy but i gave it half hour or so and it just wasnt doing anything for me at all. Glad you enjoyed it though Orionmetus. An american version of 'The Returned'. Urgh, to be honest the french original series was a little hit and miss for me but did just enough to keep me entertained to make me want to check out series 2 (whenever it eventually appears). Not liking the sound of the american remake. Rarely does it translate well.
