Hellbound

Netflix has definitely been putting some eggs in the basket of foreign cinema (or just cinema depending where you are from) recently. Perhaps it sees that the likes of HBO Max are snapping up any major titles including parallel release dates to cinema for a similar price and thus has to look for a strategy to compete.
Netflix offerings of late have been disappointing, often relying on repeat nostalgia tv shows, or ‘True’ Crime docos which are getting more reaching with each instalment (see the one about the Hotel Cecil) the platform simply must be losing subscribers all while increasing it’s subscription price.
Enter eastern cinema and my word, if the likes of Korean made Squid Game are anything to go by then we are going to be in for a breath of fresh air from the formulaic dross that we have been seeing from the US, the ones that can’t quite decide whether they are for teens by approach or adults in terms of violence and message (thanks Hunger Games).
Hellbound is the next on the way and while I have some slight issues with their character design rather than their CGI capability it looks like it could well be an exciting show.
