  I'm happy that it has topped Captain America.
  Now it means Marvel will more happily play with their space based universe. I know they have already set a date for Guardians 2 but it's nice to see it make the numbers to fully justify it in everyone's eyes.

  I personally think that there are too many Marvel movies being released in quick succession. Due to this not all of them actually live up to the hype they get from trailers etc

  I didn't think much of it, thought it was pretty damn average in all honesty. I don't get why it's so highly rated. But having said that I think one thing you could argue it needed was the individual character's own films like they did with the Avengers. I think when you look at Avengers & GotG side by side they are actually very similar but Avengers had the bonus of you already knowing everyone's back story. So I think i'd have enjoyed it more if it followed the same model that Avengers did but I completely understand why they didn't do it that way

  @thisscotsman oh they will definitely be playing around in the cosmic side a bit more now, I doubt the sequel to this will be the only way if expanding into that, and introducing the mystical side as well by the sounds of it (announced the intention to make Doctor Strange).
  
  @jj007 to be fair Marvel themselves only make two films a year, the X-men and Spider-man films are made by Fox and Sony, Marvel have no control over them.
  
  @Potato the Guardian's comics didn't really have introductions for the individual characters were introduced together, although the lineup isn't always the same, I think the lineup in this was based on a recent run (although I'm not exactly the most informed on these particular comic characters.

  Well, i resisted seeing this at the cinema and didnt want to believe the hype surrounding it in terms of all the praise. Earlier today i finally got round to watching Guardians of the galaxy..and i really enjoyed it. Easy on the eyes, a great story, the characters were really good. The soundtrack was pretty awesome as well. Roll on Guardians 2.

  Got a bit of a wait for Guardians 2 mate, not gonna be out till 2017, you'll have to make do with watching the first a few times lol. My preorder of this came today so I will definitely be watching it again this weekend (this was one of the few films I really wanted to see in the cinema more than once).

  Yeah, bloody 3 years too wait until the sequel. I read somewhere the speculation surrounding the Guardians teaming up with the Avengers in possibly the third Avengers film. How awesome would that be. Based on how good this was i will definatly go to the cinema too see the sequel.

  Guardians are pretty much guaranteed to be in Avengers 3 from what i've heard about the gauntlet storyline. The fact it's in two parts as well suggests to me that there'll be a lot of characters in it

  Is the third Avengers movie scheduled to split into two movies then? Damn it. Wonder how long we will have too wait between parts. The Gauntlet storyline? You have got me there Potato. In any event, should be good.

  Yeah, was announced a few weeks ago. Part 1 is December 2018 and part 2 is December 2019.
  
  And yeah, the infinity gauntlet to be precise. It's been referenced a lot in the previous films and was confirmed to be the basis of the third film a few weeks ago when the title was revealed to be Infinity War and the teaser had Thanos with the gauntlet.
  
  I haven't read the comics so don't know the ins and outs but I think pretty much everyone who has been/will be featured in the MCU will be in it hence why 2 parts makes sense as that's a lot of characters to give enough screen time to!
