Google are introducing self driving cars

A car that can drive itself has been imagined for centuries by many people (not me as I haven't been here for a century and I can't base facts on what someone in the 1700s said for example). Well worry no longer as Google have started production of self driving cars. Here's a picture of what they may look like im a fool:



The car will feature just a stop-go button and will not feature any steering wheel, controls or pedals.

You just sit in the car and let the car drive itself while you can sit back and just relax. You don't have to lift a finger to do anything. You can get on with that sudoku puzzle you never completed or read that book that you have always wanted to finish.

It will be limited to 25mph just to start off with and it can only seat two people at the moment.

So how will the car detect where to go and how to drive. It will use lasers and sensors to detect where the road is and how to navigate various road surfaces.

Obviously key question is how safe will it be?

No, the key question is 'why does it look so fucking awful?'

I kind of understand why certain dickheads get themselves worked up over Google Glass (get to pretend you're a robot) but there's nothing at all cool or aspirational about 'driving' something that only goes 25 mph and looks like it was designed with the mentally challenged in mind.

I agree with you there. The design isn't the best in the world. That will certainly need improvements. The 25mph restriction will be in force until they deem the car safe to drive itself. Then there will be just normal legal requirements. I think this is only a rough draft and not the final design. They may make improvements in due course.

Wow this is unbelievably ugly haven't seen this till now also will it be on the min roads cos I get frustrated with drivers doing shiny slow speed think if it's allowed on the mains it will just take the piss. And I think I were ever to get in one don't think I could trust the thing to stop and go imagine if one hit you how would the insurance be delt with.
