This is how Godzilla movies should be done, as opposed to the versions that have come out of Hollywood. The tale centres around real human emotion, politics and conflict, whilst the threat of Godzilla constantly lurks on the horizon. Takashi Yamaskai directs this brilliant film and Ryunosuke Kamiki is just as good in the lead role of the WWII pilot. Fans of rap music will also notice an iconic Easter egg.

I had the absolute pleasure of watching this over the weekend on Netflix. I like the current franchise although I do believe it started better than where it is currently going but that being said none of them have the grit of ‘Godzilla Minus One’.

Godzilla rather than being an anti hero is truly terrifying, attacking the populous of Japan while it is already on it’s knees after losing the war. This is not to be missed and I hear that soon they are releasing an all black and white version for our enjoyment.
