What's your favourite genre of film? Do you prefer action, intrigue, drama or suspense? Are your favourite actors Bruce Willis and Sly Stalone, or Meryl Streep? I'm always interested to hear, so please post.

thats a tough one i don't think i have one favourite genre, you'd get bored of watching the same types of films over and over i think. but probably drama (like godfather), action and comedy would be my favourites. i really have a soft spot for a well made semi historical gladiator type film (why i was so pissed off at how shit Alexander was)

I would have to say that my favourite genres, mostly because i can`t pick just one, would be sci fi and action. Mainly because most of my favourite films are sci fi (Blade runner, Alien, serenity for example) or comic (Marvel films in general) and action films.

I'd have to say my favourite genre is Sci-Fi, not all Sci-Fi though. It has to have a good story, with the techie bit's looking and feeling as if they belong. Having tons of pretty special effects and big shiny robots can't make up for the lack of a good story.
A good story of course, doesn't mean a story with so many twists, turns and sub-plots that blinking means you miss them. Which so many modern producers seem to feel is a must (Lost, Battlestar Galactica, Caprica and so on).

obviously the best genre is comedy, i could watch a funny movie any time, but other than that i like thriller movies and also war movies, historic movies and action and adventure movies

I always love comedies, but my favourite films are problem Sci-fi, but as others have said, not just any sci-fi, just good stories and action told in that setting. Such as Alien and Aliens, Star Wars, district 9, blade runner.

I don`t mind films where the focus is on the action if i`m just looking to relax and watch something(some will disagree with me on this but i enjoy the Transformers films for what they are, pure action really)
generally though i prefer films which have a better balance of story and action,as chrisman said above me District 9 and Blade Runner are some of the best sci fi films i`ve seen.
