Gaming ideas, but where's the know how?

Am i the only person to come up with an good idea for a gaming experience but have absolutely no idea how to do what i thought of?
Just to give you an idea of what i mean, the following is an idea for a game i had back on 1993, yes it's a long time ago and the time for doing it is well past thanks to George Lucas and 3 films that should never have been made, you know the ones, they were responsible for destroying a perfectly good franchise.
The premise goes like this, anyone familiar with X-Wing/Tie Fighter series will get what i'm talking about.
Build 2 actual life size hangers, one based on a correlian cruiser and the other an Imperial Star Destroyer, complete with locker room and canteen.
In the hangers have replica star fighers for your faction, so X-wings Ywings, Tie Fighters, Tie Bombers, etc. Each craft is a proper flight sim based on the star wars space battles.
Each cockpit has screens that display like you are in a real space environment, just like a proper sim and they are all linked so you can have epic space battles while sitting in a 'real' ship, acurate damage models and short respawn timers if you get blown away. The reason for having the actual craft is so that you can pull the cockpit out and manouver it like a real flight sim giving the sensation of actually flying a craft.
I was thinking about marketing it at a whole day's flight sim for £xxx
You get the option to buy a flight suit/helmet for your chosen faction, both of which would be customisable.
Options for actual progress such as rank & squadron assignment. I even had a plan to link different sites together, so you could have say 2 hangers in a different location and depending what one you went to gave you different ship options, so maybe one would have a millennium falcon and another would have the Imperial shuttles.
Anyway that's my idea, anyone else got a good one?
I'm aware that i may not have done my concept justice here so feel free to ask any questions if you want to know more.
