  Oh just noticed that, no it's still just programs currently on air i just forgot and got distracted lol, i'd like to add red dwarf to my list of previously mentioned shows i like, and that counts because they are making another series so for now at least it's still being made.

  Theres definitely not that many good comedy shows on television now compared to a few years ago. I would say that the Big bang Theory is by far the best. How I met you mother is also very good though.

  if it is of all time then it has to be only fools and horses that is surely the greatest comedy of all time closely followed by the british version of the office!!
  
  when it comes to present comedies i think that the likes of the inbetweeners and gavin & stacey have done really well at making their audience laugh xx

  Well i originally meant it to be just peoples current favourite programs mate as in ones that are on air now and currently still being made, anyway another program i like that is still on is The Simpsons, i know some people won't agree but i still think it's funny.

  good thread ! i'm a big fan of comedy but everyones taste can be so different - for example i can't stand Mrs Browns boys but some members of my family love it .
  for what its worth some of my current (ish) favourites - US office -Life's too short -flight of the conchords - My name is Earl - The Cafe plus all the animation (family guy etc)

  from whats still on tv at the moment defenetely has to be the big bang theory, the simpson, family guy and the cleveland show. especially the big bang theory.

  i'd have to disagree with the simpsons, it's not been funny for a very long time. not to mention the fact it's so out of date as it takes them so long to make a episode, i mean the latest episode references a clip that was big on youtube about 5 years ago if not longer and references going viral.
  
  i really do think it would've been better if they'd cancelled it a while back, surely it's better for it to of ended before most people thought it turned to crap than to carry on just for the sake of running for a even longer time

  I still like the simpsons personally, i still find it funny, i will admit that some episodes of the newer series aren't as funny as the others but most are still funny i think.
  
  Another good comedy program i forgot to mentiom before, futurama, the new series was just as good as the older ones before it was cancelled and brought back, looking forward to the next series.

  futurama is good so matt obviously can still do comedy, but the simpsons i just find stupid and they're just redoing stuff they've done before, also in recent years a lot of the episodes have so many references to american sports stars and news etc... that you can't get loads of the jokes without looking stuff up!
  
  i know other american programmes do this but it seems that the simpsons does the most in an attempt to be "current"
