RE: EUROPA LEAGUE: Group Stage

Seeing as its half-time in the Spurs game, how about some previews for the Swansea and Wigan matches?
Swansea v St Gallen
As impressive as the Swans were against Valencia a couple of weeks back, their league form has been less than sparkling. They’ve got a potentially tricky trip to Southampton coming up on Sunday, so Michael Laudrup is likely to have one eye on that when picking his team for this evening. Ashley Williams, Pablo Hernandez and Garry Monk are definitely out, while Roman Lamah and Angel Rangel are doubtful. Though how many of those would have been picked anyway? Will they go for experience or give the fringe players some game time?
Wigan v NK Maribor
It’s the first ever (football) European tie at the DW but Wigan have a host of players that will miss out on the occasion. Gary Caldwell, Ivan Ramis, Ali Al Habsi, Shaun Maloney, Grant Holt, Marc-Antoine Fortune and Stephen Crainey are all unavailable for the Latics. They’ve not had a flying start in the league either and taking part in this competition means they’ve got some catching up to do with the fixture list already. In fact if you hear any Premier League managers moaning about Europe and fixture congestion, point them in the direction of Owen Coyle and his 46-game domestic season.
