A dude was recently fired by his boss all because of a meme he posted on Facebook. The meme in question features Elmo on the toilet with the caption, “Boss makes a dollar, I make a dime. That’s why I poop on company time.” Pretty inoffensive stuff right?! Clearly the boss wasn’t impressed.
Cody Hidalgo, posted the meme on his Facebook page on Sunday when he wasn’t even working which makes it even more bizarre that he was fired over it. Hidalgo then posted the meme next to a screenshot of texts from his boss. Here’s what the boss said:
Quote:We don’t make a dollar when you’re shitting all the time. Why don’t you stay home and do your shitting. I don’t like to play your bullshit games. Maybe there’s a company out there that would put up with your games because I won’t. Good luck!
Damn, calm down dude, it’s only a meme. The man is allowed to take a shit at work. When Hidalgo responded, Andy told Hidalgo to look at his Facebook, to which Hidalgo responded:
Quote:Because I shared a funny meme…? On a Sunday? When I’m not at work?
Hidalgo’s boss then says:
Quote:You brought work into it on a Sunday. These are serious consequences for a seemingly harmless meme.
Jesus, that escalated quickly. Clearly the boss is completely unhinged and people flocked to the company Facebook page, calling it a “wrongful termination.” Well obviously!
After Hidalgo’s crazy firing story went viral, the company Facebook page, Roman Stone Works was flooded with so many memes that the page had to temporarily shut down. Ha. Gutted. I smell a tribunal hearing coming on.
