I've heard of vanity projects but this story involving a fake band takes the fucking cake. The dude at the centre of it all is Jered Threatin, who pretended to be part of massive band from L.A called 'Threatin'. He even invented a fake promotor called Casey Marshall and booked venues for a European tour to which literally zero people showed up to. It's all pretty cringe.
Jered Threatin used insanely misleading YouTube videos, paid-for Facebook likes and seriously exaggerated ticket counts to set himself up a European tour which is now falling flat on its face with no one showing up to his gigs. As well as a fake promotor, Jered also invented a fake booking agency called StageRight Bookings and basically created an entire empire of fake companies for the sole purpose of making his band look popular. One dude who runs a gig venue in Belfast spoke out against the band after they were recently booked to play at his venue. Here's what he had to say:

I don't even know what possesses a person to do this. I mean don't get me wrong, it's impressive, but it's utterly mental, not to mention expensive. It must've cost a small fortune to travel to Europe for his empty gigs. I guess he's now achieved the fame he's always wanted! -

I'm so conflicted, it's quite impressive how he's pulled it all off even if he did fail at the final hurdle but that is some dross shit tune right there. Also that cringe music video, this is the sort of no good these goths get up to when no one is checking in on them.

I bet he's not even bothered that he's playing to crickets. it seems like his dream was to tour and he's kinda doing it, even though it's cringe as fuck to witness.

After all the shit came out about Jered Threatin booking his fake band 'Threatin' on a European tour, people were desperate to see the band playing on stage to a non existent crowd. Thankfully, we now have that footage, and it's even more cringe than I imagined.
Obviously with the band, promotor and booking agent all being fake, there were zero tickets sold so the band had to play to a handful of people - all of which were mates of Jered. Take a look:
That's just painful! He's giving it some welly though. You can't fault his enthusiasm. -

You know Threatin are going to have some temporary success now though. I think old Jered may well achieve his goal if only on a minor level.
Sure it looks deas there but I've been to gigs with a similar turnout and they had tour managers. -

I actually have a lot of respect for what this guy has managed to achieved. He has taken the social media numbers obsessed society and completely abused it. Doesn't matter if you are talented or shit, if you have a lot of likes we will book you. I feel like he has just proved a massive point by being awful but booking so many gigs. -

Half expected him to pull some stunt and get himself Christmas Number one. Guess he didn't manage to plan that far, or maybe blew his tour trick too early.
