  Saw ths available for download the other day and, despite the mixed reviews, decided to take a chance on it. Decided to watch 'Deepwater Horizon' while having possibly the most important dinner of the year..Christmas day dinner, meaning this had to be something pretty special. Fortunatly, it was. Has anyone else seen the film? What did you think. The film, starring amongst others, Mark Wahlberg and Kurt Russell, directed by Peter Berg tells, in hollywood fashion (ie.bigger explosions etc..) of the April 2010 disaster when the offshore drilling rig, Deepwater Horizon, exploded and created the worst oil spill in U.S. history. Some people have taken offense with some of the ott liberties the film has taken, effects and otherwise. However, approaching more from a disaster thriller stance, this is a very good film with solid performances all round. A grteat build to the inevitable and when it all goes off, boy, does it go off (not expense spared with the pyro here). A very solid thriller and strongly recomended.

  no i havent seen it but i just saw the trailer u posted and it looked very good, and i dont mind mark wahlberg as a actor hes not to bad, also i know about the problems that go on on oil rigs out at sea i saw a documentary on it, very dangerous job

  Gotta say, while this may have been an exception and also given the hollywood big pyro, tart up treatment but even so, rather someone else than me..i wouldnt even fancy getting as mucky as they do on the rigs let alone what may potentially happen. What with the level of action and Mark Wahlberg being involved i half expected Michael Bay to be directing and a Transformer or 2 to turn up lol..turns out this was in actual fact directed by Peter Berg (cant recall what other films the guy has directed but i certainly recognise his name as being a famous director).

  me to gymaddict and one of the really bad things about working on a oil rig is when u get little sprays of oil in your eye, very painful, and i dont have a clue who peter berg is

  I not seen deepwater horizon but will like to see it, i agree it is dangerous job i also see a documentary one time when man get oil in eye and cant wipe it away with gloves on.

  yeah vesper that oil is piping hot and if that touches your eye u can go blind plus super painful, and that is another good point because of the gloves to, also they get some rash thing from all the oil i cant remember exactly but makes for a good movie i think

  Peter Berg..you know, has a brother whose first name is 'ice' lol (sorry, sounded funnier in my head). He'a an actor / director / producer. He directed films like Lone Survivor , Hancock , The Kingdom etc..so the guy knows a fair bit about action laden and thrilling setpieces. Oil in the eye..doesnt sound all that fun does it (i should know, i dip my cock in it on a regular basis..oh, you guys didnt mean the jap's..oh ok, scratch what i said haha).

  oh nice i like lone soldier i saw that just the other day really good movie, and i need to see that again soon, and hancock was ok but not the best , and gymaddict lol u crazy

  I will take the 'crazy' remark and run with that as a compliment my friend. Peter Bergand Mark Wahlberg must be the best of freinds by now, given that noowadays, Mark seems to be cropping up in all of his directed films. Lone Survivor to start, then again in Deepwater Horizon and, moost recently, Patriots Day..which i happend to also watch earlier today (review in a different post). With you on Lone Survivor, a really good film ( and ripe for a rewatch me thinks..will have to get on that).
