Carl you make a very good point there about Darren Barker fighting Matthew Macklin because it's been talked about for a long time. To be honest I don't think it's going to happen now, a match up between Darren Barker and Matthew Macklin. There's just not enough interest in it right now. There could be later. Matthew Macklin has to fight his way back into contention then it could happen.
Darren Barker has to make as much money as possible. The fight with Matthew would be a backward step for him. He'd be better off fighting Sergio again and getting more money and respect in America or some other world champion and try to unify the middleweight championship than fight Matthew. Matthew brings nothing to the table right now that could sell that fight to the public. He must get some impressive wins under his belt and/or preferably a world title from the WBO, WBA or WBC then that fight will be huge with out it even having to be staged in America. In fact the American TV networks and paper view will want to buy it up if Matthew can build up his profile to world class level while Darren builds up his resume even more but to be honest, I think Matthew's latest loss may have finished him at top level. I hope I am wrong.
