Dakar Rally 2019

Serious motorsport chat and all that; but mostly, size of those fucking sand dunes!
Peruvian desert racing is the absolute boy.
Nasser Al-Attiyah came out on top in stage 1 (Lima-Pisco), just about holding off last year's champion Carlos Sainz.
Then from Pisco it was on to San Juan de Marcona. A tougher ride for Al-Attiyah here; with the two-time Dakar winner first out and having no tracks to follow (yes, sand!) he could only manage 11th place. The stage 2 honours went instead to Frenchman Sebastien Loeb.
Stage 3, San Juan de Marcona to Arequipa and yes, friends, we are still in the desert! Here the tricksy bastard terrain managed to break one of Carlos Sainz's wheels. Whicj just goes to show it doesn't matter how experienced you are, you gotta respect the dunes. There was a breakdown for Giniel De Villiers too as Stefan Peterhansel won the day.
