  This has to potential to be the best adaptation of the greatest comic book ever. Snyder's film was good but lacked in certain parts and was carried by Earle-Haley's performance as Rorschach. Lindelof's continuation on HBO was outstanding. But I think the medium of animation will translate the themes of the comic is the best way possible, just like how the Seth Rogan produced animated adaptation of Invincible has on Amazon Prime.

  The second trailer reveals more of the plot and the animation style. It feels so much more like the comic than the film did, in terms of the characters motivations, the various time periods and their view of the world. Surprisingly it doesn't appear yet that the black freighter subplot will be included in this adaptation, like it was in the comic and the extended version of the film, hopefully I'm worng, as it is an essential part that gives the overall story an additional layer, that elevates it to another level.

  This is boss. Living up to the comic was always going to be tough, but this has done something that the film was incapable of and that is seamlessly blend the Black Freighter subplot into the main story. They even add in the Under The Hood subplot into it, in a very smart and subtle way too. Earle Harley boots were always going to be tough to fill but Welliver has done a brilliant job as Rorschach. The chapter one cliffhanger is well set up and means that it can go full throttle from the start of chapter two until the end.
