Chevrolet unveils a 240mph concept car powered by laser
To start off with, at the moment, the car is only available to use in a video game (Gran Turismo 6) but a real life version has been built at the LA Auto Show.

It is called the Chaparral 2X Vision Gran Turismo (VGA) and it makes uses of lasers instead of combustion engines.

Here's what it looks in game:

It's said this sort of technology could eventually make onto roads. It will feature some sort of laser based propulsion system and is inspired by technology which was targeted at space travel and future aircraft design. The laser will pulse beams of light that create shock waves which give the thrust for the car.

It will all be powered by batteries and an air powered generator which will give 900 horsepower.

There will be no need for any large conventional wings because of the aerodynamics. In the car, only essential elements are there which also features a lightweight chassis.
