Brexit has an official date - three months earlier than expected!
It looks like Britain will be leaving the EU earlier than planned, as negotiators on both sides have agreed on an official date of 31 December 2020.
A government source told The Sun newspaper "The EU timetable is the working assumption and no one seems too upset by that." The Prime Minister originally wanted a transition period of around two years after the 29 March 2019 date, but officials are happier with a 21-month grace period. The EU's chief negotiator, Michel Barnier, said that a shorter transition time would be better for everyone and would be "useful for Britain to get prepared for the kind of challenges they will face...and for the new relationship." He also says that although UK businesses have access to the single market at the moment, British companies should "start preparing for this right now". Yikes. Sounds kinda scary. Theresa May is due to give a speech this week about the UK's relationship with the EU post-Brexit. Follow me on Twitter: @ReedeFox |

What's a fiver gonna be worth once it does happen..probably not the paper it's printed on. Not gonna get drawn into a row about the pro's and con's of brexit (not that theres a hint of row here at the moment lol) but personally i voted to stay. Yeah, immigration is outta hand but, being the selfish sort that i am, when voting i was thinking of how this would impact on me, not the country as a whole (why the fuck would i care about that haha)...and the thought of this british goverment having the only and final say on all that concerns us genuinely scares me. Everything from working conditions being fucked to impossible levels of online censorship..can envisage the goverment cooking these ideas up as we speak. Things may not be fantastic now but i suspect, come brexit, us dwellers on this island are gonna be completely fucked.

Certainly could be worse we could be governed by Comrade Corbyn the terrorist's best friend, who would scrap all our defence systems and take us further into debt by buying back utility and rail franchises and putting them back to publicly owned, worked well with one of the banks lol.

Don't think we need Corbyn to fuck up our defences. The government have been doing that for years. If we scrap any more of the armed forces we may be in danger of being overpowered by a confrontation with anyone. Seems we are now reliant on our alliance with NATO to get us out of the shit if it ever did hit the fan. No wonder the USA have spoken up to say we are not pulling our weight.
Post-Brexit I wonder how solid NATO will prove to be if called upon? |
