  Just got Lincoln on bluray put it in player LG BD560, and it wont play, just getting a message to 'update player to play this disc' went to LGs site and downloaded the firmware update copied it onto a disc as per instructions on the site, put disc in player and nothing happens! just a message on screen 'check disc' then it spits it out! thought maybe it hadn't downloaded properly so did it again, copied it onto disc, same thing again, anyone got any ideas?

  Have you tried turning it off and on again? ;)
  
  Is it doing it with all discs or just that one?

  Just that disc m8, I tried another bluray in it right after trying to load the update then a dvd both played, even put in a disc of my own photos jpegs all fine, just wont play Lincoln, the thing is are all new bluray discs now gonna need the update to play? I know the player ive got isn't exactly the latest in technology but it works just fine and I don't wanna be getting a new one if I don't have to!

  Every now and then you do get one disc that plays up, unfortunately it is one of those things (technology sucks), I was gonna say get rid of that useless piece of junk LG and get a Pana, I've not had an issue with mine yet, but then again haven't tried Lincoln either lol...
  All have the 'disclaimer' that you may need an update but this is very unusual for it to be necessary... maybe it has certain features on it that your machine doesn't like... return the Blu-ray and buy it on dvd instead!!!
  
  Another thought and a long shot but sometimes, the lens gets a little dirty and this may affect the disc playing... try a lens cleaner disc, cheaper than a new player lol...

  Just been talking to our kid, gave him the Lincoln bluray yesterday and he watched it last night no problem on a Samsung that's best part of 5 years old! so dunno whats going on with LG.

  Well went round n watched Lincoln on our kids old Samsung ad as ive already mentioned it played no problem, the film however id struggle to recommend, it wasn't crap but it did plod along for nearly 2 and a half hours, I knew it was gonna be all talking obviously, it was about Lincoln trying to end the civil war and push through the abolition of slavery so there was never gonna be a shoot up at the OK coral! maybe it needs a second viewing to get onto who everyone was, D D Lewis deserved his Oscar however, he was brilliant as usual.

  lol, I'd recommend Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter instead....
  You might just be unlucky with your LG, every player is ever so slightly different with the optics, we use to get the same problem with CD units we made at where I worked before, give it a good clean and it worked 9 times out of 10, but there is always that 1 bugger that refuses to play certain discs.

  Cheers Russy that A L vampire Hunter sounds a cracker! but I might hang on for the prequel George Washington Military Junta! I was in Richer Sounds before picked up a cleaner {see if she will do behind the fridge, then scrub my balls} see if that sorts out the problem with the player/Lincoln disc, if not It was still worth calling into Richer Sounds, its on Berry Street just on the edge of China Town, some extraordinarily beautiful little bits of oriental fluff blowing around! Dirrir Rirrir Dit Dit Dit Dit Deerrrr!
