  It’s been nearly 3 years since Black Mirror Season 5 dropped in June 2019, so I'm pretty pleased to hear that season 6 is currently in development. There's no info yet but apparently there will be more episodes than Season 5. I should bloody well think so. Season 5's had 3 episodes and I gotta say, they weren't great.
  
  
  
  Variety magazine says season 6 will be ‘more cinematic in scope, with each instalment being treated as an individual film.’ I mean, that kinda sounds like their previous episodes right? The shows creators Charlie Brooker and Annabel Jones also have a new production company, Broke and Bones, but the rights to Black Mirror stayed with Endemol Shine Group, which is why it took so long for Brooker and Endemol to work out a deal.
   
  I guess this is a good way for Netflix to win back some subscribers.

  I hope to be proven wrong but I’m not expecting great things. It all went a bit downhill post leaving channel 4 and moving to Netflix. There were some good episodes in the Netflix ones but none carried the atmosphere of a stark, dystopia as much as the 1st 2 seasons.

  Netflix have dropped the trailer for the sixth season of Black Mirror that will be released in June. Unsurprisingly not much is revealed in terms of the plot of each episode, which is a good thing because I'm sure everyone will want to start watching each one knowing as little as possible. What we do know is that Salma Hayek, Aaron Paul, Kate Mara and Zazie Beatz will be appearing in it this season.

  Season five only had three episodes like they did on seasons one and two on Channel Four. Seasons three and four on Netflix were increased to six episodes. But in this trailer for season six they've confirmed not only that there will be five episodes, they've also confirmed the titles and stars of each episode, which is a new marketing tactic. Joan is Awful stars Salma Hayek. Loch Henry stars John Hannah. Beyond The Sea stars Aaron Paul. Mazey Day stars Zazie Beetz. Demon 79 stars Paapa Essiedu.

  Joan is Awful
  The concept is interesting and the performances are strong. There are few really cool cameos. The twist takes another twist and then another twist again.
  
  Loch Henry
  This is a classic Channel Four era style episode. I'd be surprised if this doesn't end up being my favourite episode of the season. It's a slow burner but when it hits, it really hits.

  Beyond the Sea
  The premise is intriguing with a cool first act. The second act sort of goes in a direction that you probably think it would. But that's why the uppercut the story gives your jaw in third act is the perfect knockout blow.

  Mazey Day
  A slow burner pays homage to a classic. The writing, acting and directing are all good but the star of this episode is the practical effects.
  
  Demon 79
  Politically asute and razor sharp in this era of Patel, Sunak and Baverman. Morally conflicting questions are asked and the antagonists are perfect.

  Its been a long time since I watched Black Mirror, they are still standalone episodes that you can just dip into? No need to work through prior series and episodes or is there a thread runs through them?

  It's still an anthology series and none of the episodes are connected. You can watch as many episodes as you like, and in any order you want.
