  So I've just been made aware that Shaunae Miller won her race yesterday by diving for the finish line. It just seems a bit cheap. I can't say whether or not it's cheating but to me the whole point of the Olympics is to show how disciplined an athlete is in their particular speciality and I'm certain that diving for the finish line isn't taught as part of that discipline in the 400m race.
  
  Do you think it's cheating? Bad form? Both? Or maybe you think she was smart and right to do so? Where do you all stand on this? Maybe it will change the game and from here on out and all races will end with a dive for the finish line.

  I shall be frowning upon it, but I'm not sure she gained any sort of advantage.
  
  If it was actually helpful then we'd have seen it happen long before now. More likely just some instinctive desperation.

  Completely, it looks as though the set up for the jump holds her back enough to not make any extra time up once it was performed.

  Hmm, I'm not having this! This bitch is a dirty runner. I bet there's no rule about it either, it'll probably be marked as a 'grey area'.

  nah she wasn't cheating I don't think, it just seems like she over strided trying to reach for the line and consequently started falling so then made a dive and it paid off. I think it's fair because that's the natural reaction anyone would do in that position

  Not being controversial by disagreeing with you as usual, BUT would you even be writing this thread if it was King Mo or Jess ? dont say they wouldnt do it,cos they never needed too. 400 metres or not the whole point of any competition is to win at all costs doesn,t matter how you do it,i think she was smart to even think of it.If Mo dives for the line late saturday night we wont be complaining will we ?after all they trip each other up accidental or not.

  I don't really follow the Olympics and with what little knowledge I have I'm guessing you mean Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis and in which case yes, I 'd still be asking that question. I don't really care who wins and certainly don't take any stock in the 'national pride' conjured up by a bunch of athletes that I don't know. My question was only based on the footage I was shown.
  
  I really don't understand when a nation gains value from it's athletes, footballers etc no more than I understand the people who took to Facebook to express their horror when Robin Williams died. Possibly my lack of interest in sport has something to do with it but my completely lack of connection to the individuals is more likely. In short, Mo can dive away, he'll still be hauled up in front of the Rampant Court.

  Eeesh now there's a question. I've never been one to see punishing to the extremes. I might go "Oi.......oi........ don't do that." all while shaking my finger with a displeased look upon my face.
