  Now I know this will get the old grey matter going, when you think back over the years what would you say was the best retro console
  
  Sega Mega Drive is up there as some of its games were brilliant for the time

  the snes was my personal best console and its still as playable today as it was 20 yrs ago

  Yeah for me it's the SNES still have mine working perfectly to this day with all the games it's awesome haha. Also a close second would be the SEGA Mastersystem another quality retro console.

  i'd probably say SNES simply because i had a snes and never owned any sega systems. i've played them since and they were probably just as good as the snes but just because of the nostalgia i'd say the snes wins or if you broaden out the definition of console then it would be the c64 for me but it's not really a console.

  i owned both snes an megadrive an a lot of titles where bought to both consoles an the majority of the time the snes would win that battle the big disappointment for me was buying the snes mortal kombat finding they had removed the blood paying 60quid brand new and a week later going round my megadrive owning m8s and playing mk on there and feeling utterly pigsick when i saw the blood flow like a tap.

  oh yeah some real nostalgia going here and i love it, my mate used to have a mega drive back and the day and we used to play sonic all day long plus old classics like altered beast and the first of the ea hockey games before it became the nhl series. i had the snes with the mario games and mario kart and a few others, i have to say morio kart for me is the best multiplayer game there was at that time and still takes some beating today

  for me i used to love going round to my nan and grandads and playing the atari i know the graphics where really crap but its the first games machine i played. otherwise for me it would have to be the sega mega drive as i never played the snes

  One of my all time fave retro games is Streets Of Rage, even tho it was only a side to side play kind of game it still kicked ass, and also Road Rash was amazing going along either kicking guys off or whacking them with a chain hours of fun for me

  I would agree with you there Mario Kart is a game that has just gone on and on and will be around for many years (I hope)
  
  Mortal Kombat 2 on Mega Drive was really good but the best thing was the "Fatalaties"

  I never owned the snes, so it was always a sega domination in our house. The mega drive was my favourite, I bet it's still as good now. Also, the master system had some decent games (Alex the kid, astrix and oblix). But the mega drive was the one for me!

  yeh altho i owned a snes an was very proud of it i was a bit of a sega nut having a master system an megadrive and going on to own a saturn and a dreamcast also,still got a saturn gathering dust somewhere i dig it out now and again for a 2-D beat em up blast!
