The mid-season break is over and we're back in action this weekend at Spa, for the 11th Grand Prix of the 2013 season.
Sebastien Vettel returns with a 38 point lead in the drivers' championship. Comfortable, but a couple of poor races could see the chasing pack close in. Fernando Alonso, who was quickest in this morning's practice session, certainly falls in to that category, as does Kimi Raikkonen in the Lotus. Lewis Hamilton isn't too far further back either and after winning last time out in Hungary, he'll hope to be hitting form at just the right time, pace of the car permitting.
More on this morning's session now. The drivers came out on to a damp track and it started raining again 15 minutes before the end. Therefore there wasn't too much racing to be had in optimum conditions and despite finishing quickest, Alonso's time was well off the expected pace. Behind the Spaniard were the Force Indias of Paul Di Resta and Adrian Sutil.
The second session has just finished and with the rain holding off, probably gives us a better idea of the teams' pace for the weekend. Vettel came out on top, despite picking up a puncture, followed by Webber, Grosjean, Massa and Vergne. Not a good session for Mercedes with Rosberg in 9th and Hamilton down in 12th. He'll be disappointed with that...
The final practice follows tomorrow morning with qualifying just after midday.

this weekends grand prix will still end up a heads up contest between the red bulls and mercedes. both cars teams are just too fast for the others to compete with really. -

Mercedes didn't look too great in the practice sessions, but we'll have a better idea of where everyone's at after qualifying I guess. Not too long to wait. -

they don't usually perform too well in practice anyway, then they turn up to qualifying with some quality pace and really push the red bulls. i just don't wanna see vettel walk away with it. -

Vettel finishes quickest in the final practice with Alonso just behind him. Hamilton is 12th again so if he's got extra pace he'll need to find it quickly. Qualifying starts at 1pm.

You were right Rustee. After only just scraping in to Q3, Lewis Hamilton comes out of nowhere right at the death to take pole for tomorrow's race. Vettel will start just behind him in 2nd followed by Webber, Rosberg, Di Resta and Button. Fernando Alonso starts down in 9th despite looking quick in the practice sessions. Kimi Raikkonen is 8th so not a great outcome for either of Vettel's two nearest challengers.
The race starts at 1pm tomorrow, will Hamilton be able to record a much-need win? -

Paul Di Resta very nearly called that last session right didn't he, by waiting and going out on the inters, he set himself nicely in Pole Position, and it would have worked too, if it weren't for those pesky kids lol... and of course the rain slightly letting up to allow the Red Bulls and Mercedes to claim the top slots...
Another good call for Van Der Garde, Bianchi & Chilton too to get onto Q2, with some egg on face for the Toro Rossos and Williams.
Tomorrow's podium should be full of Red Bull and Mercedes unless the rain causes havoc which is likely here at Spa. I think the Red Bulls will have the edge if it is a dry race. -

yeah, di resta must be gutted. i'm suprised the others didn't realise it was the right idea, there was never gonna be time to do the outlap and then get lap in with the rain. -

Cummon Jenson , you may have guessed I am a Mclaren fan . But what i really like is there cartoonbut this is the show Sebastien Vettel and Mark Webber should be on

yeah those two do not like each other at all, vettel annoys the shit out of me, he's well arrogant and not as good a he thinks he is. i'd love to see them fight and watch webber beat the crap out of him.
