  So what do you have to do in the games? Can you choose which side you're on? Which do you prefer?

  Usually you will be taking part in the historical events taking place. For example in the third one, you will be fighting in the key events of the American Revolution (Boston Tea Party, Battle of Lexington and Concord, Battle of Monmouth, Battle of the Chesapeake etc) alongside taking down the Templars. You can't pick a side. You are usually always fighting for the Assassins. In this new game the Assassin's Creed Rogue you will be fighting for the Templars it seems. So far in AC3 and AC4 you start playing as a Templar and then change to working for the Assassins but that's it really.
  
  In my opinion, the ability to integrate stealth with adventure is very fun plus there's cool killing moves which are always good.

  Are you in the thick of the killing, like Dynasty Warriors? Or is it more detached?

  There are parts of it when you can be right in the thick of it but some parts you have to do other things to find Templars so becoming slightly detached from the historical events.

  Can anyone tell my why they realeased two games within the same month, seems a little bad for business if you ask me..I bought unity but I'm not sure if I should get hold of rogue too

  That and cause Unity is a next-gen exclusive and they need people who haven't shelled out on that yet to still give them, yeah, money.
  
  Except that didn't work out to well. Cause you know releasing 4 games across 4 formats is going spread your workforce thin. And then you release a game full of stupid bugs which go viral causing you to need to apologise all the while having your company stock price taking a 12.5% hit.
