  me and some mates were thinking about going to Amsterdam soon.
  gonna go to the red light district and of course the coffee shops
  is it cheap there

  i looked into awhile ago hotels and accodenation isnt that cheap plus the food and drink is costly
  
  i heard they where on about banning tourists from using the coffe shops lol

  i went in may and 12 times before over the past few years,,,,its about 3euros for 1 joint,,about 25 for alot,,better deal than you get here,,its not cheap for food or beer..you can find accomodation i recommend ( the old quarter ) nice little hotel and you can smoke in the bedrooms too,,very cosy near everything but out of reach of noise and that...coffee shops are always open everywhere they say they banning us but i,ve spoken to owners out there and they will remain a tourist haven for years...a pint out there about 4 to 5 pound in our money...enjoy its worth the experiance definately...

  little friendly warning DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OF ANYONE IN STREET,,you will be sorry...enjoy...

  Haven't been for a couple of years but it was fairly pricey then (about 5 or 6 euro for a beer) but its well worth it, it really is an amazing place, so much going on there, you'll have a great time

  i went there maybe 8 years ago and it was great! there are a few things you need to keep in mind though, first off as already said do not buy anything from anyone on the street as you wont get what you think you're buying and you can be arrested for it
  
  secondly keep your wallet etc.. somewhere safe as there's a lot of pickpockets in the red light area and they tend to target tourists
  
  third, don't try and take pictures of the girls in the red light district as it's not allowed and a lot of the girls with have a bouncer who will quite happily take your camera and chuck it in the cannell
  
  fourth is a little tip my mate and i picked up from a local, there's lots of beggers there and they're very pushy, one threatend to stab me when i said i didn't have any change lol. a local said if you can make it convincing say no in russian as although the beggers will speak a few accents pretty much none of them speak russian and so they will just leave you alone
  
  fifth is something my mate only told me on the way home, i was saying how all the girls i saw when we had a walk around where ugly at which point my mate said all the hot ones were on the second floor of windows lol
  
  can't give any help about the girls themselves though as we just walked through as something to see but didn't do anything
  
  in regards to the smoking the rules when i was there which i think are still the same are as follows :
  
  normal cigs you can only smoke outside not in coffee shops or hotels, however weed you can only smoke in coffee shops or your hotel if they allow it doing either the other way round is illegal there. and also be carefull with what you buy in the shops, the best bet is to speak to the guy selling it in there as most shops have one counter for drinks etc.. and another for weed and go with his recomendations as most of what they had when i went was a lot stronger than anything i've had here

  Stone 123, I went to Amsterdam about 9 months ago for my Cousines Stag Party... Cheap to get there and back.. Prices for accomodation arent too bad... and you can bang girls that are incredibly fit for a proportionally lower price than you can in the UK.
  
  They sting yo uwith the food prices and the drink prices in my opinion... Not tried the weed amd not a smoker so smoking bans on insides arent an issue I experienced.

  I grew up in Holland, was awesome. Yeah if you go outside of Amsterdam the price drops as well, quality goes up too. Amsterdam is predictably a bit touristy. Accommodation is hugely expensive, your best bet is to stay in a hostel, or at a camping and then just do 1 night in Amsterdam or something. Beware of people taking advantage of you when you're off your tits though.
