  Andy Murray will undergo surgery on a long-standing back injury on Monday and is unlikely to play again this season.
  
  The 26-year-old has a disc problem in his lower back and is set to miss this year's remaining tour events, including November's World Tour Finals in London.
  
  The injury flared up in May, forcing him to withdraw from the French Open.
  
  He returned to become Britain's first male Wimbledon singles champion since 1936, but struggled on the hard courts and lost in the US Open quarter-finals.
  
  Murray tweeted on Thursday: "Having operation on Monday. Will let everyone know how it goes. I'll be 'back' stronger."

  I'll miss Andy not being on court. He's a great Player. He seems to be recovering already and gave the thumbs up while in hospital. Having the rest to recover is the best thing. Missing this season won't do him no harm. He has to think of his health first.
  
  Anyway he's had a brilliant year winning Wimbledon. Can't really top that this year but I would like to see him win it again next year.
  
  I just wish him a speedy recovery, whatever the operation reveals on Monday.

  Hopefully, he'll come back from the surgery stronger next year and bag another grand slam event or maybe more than one, he's got two tough competitors to get the better of in Nadal and Novak and it's too soon to write off Federer

  andy murray has announced he won't be palying in the atp tour finals in london. it was to be expected after his surgery no too long ago. he is gonna need a good rest to compete week in week out with those two.
