Microsoft have decided to sell an Xbox One console that will come without a Kinect device. WOO! No more fucking about with a motion sensor that never seems to work at the best of times. This will also mean a price reduction and give the player "more options".

As we all now, the Kinect can be a bit troublesome especially when sometimes the motion is just not captured so completely going against its name.

This was a wise move by Microsoft.

I imagine this is going to piss a lot of people off. Another U-turn by microsoft regarding the Xbox One. On release 'it has to have kinect because it needs to recognise you and it does this that and the other'. Now all the people who would buy at that price have one 'guess what guys, turns out kinect wasn't necessary after all, go figure'.

i wish i waited for this to happen,now im stuck with a kinnect that i only use to record something epic,might sell it on ebay beacuse i never wanted it in the first place it just takes up room

This should have been done a long time ago. Making people have to buy a Kinect device and then many months later revealing that in fact a Kinectless console is possible. It's also good for developers who now don't have to just design for the Kinect.

Agree that it is about time that they put the system out minus the kinect. It always felt like they were trying to push it on consumers even though it is really just a gimmick device. Tried it a few times and never though much of it.

I don't have enough space to set up kinect so it was always going to be a waste for me.
