  The fight looks to be edging closer after Khan cancelled his planned clash with IBF welterweight champion Devon Alexander, which was due to take place this December in New York.
  
  That frees him up for a 3rd May 2014, £6m showdown with Mayweather, probably in Las Vegas.
  
  Anyone want to go out on a limb and back our Amir?

  i can understand why they are fighting from a financial stand point, but their is no way that is anyway near deserving a world title shot let alone one against mayweather.

  I agree with Rustee1. This fight between Amir Khan and Floyd Mayweather would be an absolute waste of time. Khan Needs to get some good wins then the match would be more realistic. He should pursue fights with the likes of Devon Aexandra, Rematches with Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson and possibly even a domestic fight with Kell Brook.
  
  Floyd Mayweather is too far out of his league.

  Khan is better than Devon Alexander, Peterson and Garcia. Khan has all the ability to match up with the level up which is the bradleys, cotto's and Mayweathers but he does not have the ability to stick to a plan and work it. He is one of the biggest guys in the division coupled with being one of the fastest. But his temperament gives him no chance in this fight.

  i'm gonna have to disagree with almost all of that. if he was confident in his ability he would have fought alexander and then mayweather. he would get destroyed by bradley, cotto, marquez and mayweather.

  I agree he would get beat by them due to his lack of ability to harness his potential. Not because he has less in his arsenal. Potentially he has the speed, power, reach and build to be a dominant force but lacks wherewithal to become said force.

  he also lacks any punch resistance against anyone with an ounch of power and he has very poor defensive skills. you have to be able to defend and attack.

  I think the point being missed here is that Amir Khan doesn't plan on staying in boxing for any more than four years. He wants to get out of boxing before he is 30 years old. Basically, he's doing what most boxers at his level would do, after suffering back to back defeats: get as much money as he can before he calls it a day. He wants to take on many big name boxers to make as much money as quickly possible before retirement.
  
  This is where Floyd Money Mayweather comes in: he can make more money fighting him than he would in having 3, 4,or 5 fights, possibly even retire on the money from that fight.

  I agree that is his plan. And to be fair it is not the worst plan in the world. He will make a decent amount and nothing to lose. Mayweather is not a big hitter so no threat of being injured.

  i like amir and he is uk but no one mayweather will fight will beat him,he picks and chooses who he fights
