With Porsche making a comeback this year with the 919, now's probably as good a time as any to get a semi over pics of previous winners.

They've got form themselves of course, the 956 won 4 years in a row between 1982 and 1985.


And then the 962C was victorious in '86 and '87.


The 917K deserves a shout too for ending the GT40's spell of dominance.


Speaking of which, the Ford won 4 in a row between '66 and '69. Best Le Mans racer ever?


It's all about the Audis these days though. The R8 won 5 out of 6 between 2000 and 2005.


And the R18 has won the last 3.

In fact since 2000, the German manufacturer has won all but 2 races.

The Brits used to decent though. The D-Type took 3 in a row between '55 and '57.


And Jaguar were successful as recently as 1990 with the XJR-12.


Look at this Aston Martin DBR1 from 1959!


And finally, Ferrari. The 166MM was their first winner in 1949.


But the 250 is their true legend, its various guises taking the chequered flag on 5 occasions between '58 and '65.
