Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance
1967 FERRARI 275 GTB/4*S SPIDER

Only 10 were ever made and this one is about to be auctioned by the family of the deceased owner, with all money going to charity. Nice.

Take a look at this video from Petrolicious.com. Can anyone honestly name me a better looking car?

So it went up for auction.

And sold for $25m.

Bloody hell.

Come on now Briss, I'm willing to accept that you're an international-globetrotting-money-leaking-playboy...

...but there are levels!

Here's the full listing from the auctioneer's website.

The guide price was 'just' $14,000,000-$17,000,000.

Way off!

While we're here, here's another pic:

Ridiculous.

i think that the car is awesome, but 25 million for it is fucking crazy. i wonder how much the insurance is going to cost on that car, it must be insane. not that it will dent the owners bank balance.

Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance
So the Pebble Beach event (Concours d’Elegance to give it it's full name) where the Ferrari was sold is a huge auction/car show that takes place every year.

Think of it as the Crufts of cars. This won best in show:

Lamborghini were there too and as part of their 50th anniversary celebrations showed off their very first prototype, the 1963 350 GTV:

As well as their newest, the Veneno:

There's a tour as well! Definitely not a race, I repeat, not a race. You wouldn't want to prang any of these though would you?

It wasn't all about that Ferrari when it came to the auctions either. Clark Gable's 1935 Duesenberg Model JN Convertible Coupe was up for sale:

The 1956 Maserati 150S is better than that Quattroporte from Yesterday...

This 1956 Ferrari 250 GT LWB Berlinetta was no slouch either:

And this 1936 Mercedes-Benz 540 K Special Roadster was owned by Baroness Gisela von Krieger. Well Nazi.

Ian Poulter was there too, and dropped $1.7m on the LaFerrari. Good man.

All in all, a tidy little event I'd say.
