All in all you have to say it was a pretty good deadline day for Everton as they also raised an eye-watering £6m from the sale of
Victor Anichebe to West Brom. That's last-minute panicking for you.
In came
James McCarthy for £13m and
Gareth Barry and
Romelu Lukaku on season-long loans, the latter deal causing
Shane Long's move to Hull to fall through. The Baggies were also in the hunt for the young Belgian striker.
Mesut Ozil to Arsenal was obviously the big deal of the day but overall I'd say Everton did the best business. The less said about Man Utd the better...
