It’s a day of transfers not happening today. Don’t worry too much though, it’s only so the papers can say that they will be happening tomorrow, like it’s news…
Wayne Rooney’s not for sale. Tottenham will flat out ignore any bids from United for Gareth Bale. They won’t even say no, won’t even dignify it with a response. Aloof.
Worried that Arsenal might actually bid £40m for Luis Suarez, Liverpool have upped the asking price to £55m. And there was me thinking he had a £40m buy-out clause.
Remember how Man City were gonna get all responsible in the transfer market? Well after signing Alvaro Negredo yesterday, today they’ll complete a £22m deal for Stevan Jovetic, taking their summer spending so far to £90m. Also, they’ve bid £25.8m for Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio. Thrifty.
Spurs have upped their bid for Roberto Soldado to £20m after their £17m one was rejected. No word on Christian Benteke today.
Liverpool could miss out on Christian Eriksen, AC Milan are preparing a bid. And Pepe Reina could be off to Napoli, Rafa Benitez fancies a reunion.
