And at City specifically, one strike, three transfer requests and more driving bans than George Michael. Under the watchful gaze of super-agent Kia Joorabchian, Tevez, with his third-party ownership scandals and astronomical wages, is perhaps the most modern of Modern Footballers. Trouble and controversy attract him like a magnet, so the swift and amicable nature of his switch to Juventus seems almost anti-climactic. It shouldn’t have ended like this Carlos; you had at least one more big story in you.
But with no prospect of a new deal being offered, it makes financial sense for City to recoup some of their outlay on him now. The exact figure paid by Juventus isn’t clear but it’s been said that City will save £27m altogether when the fee, plus wages and bonuses saved, are taken into consideration. A drop in the ocean for the owners but with Financial Fair Play looming, letting him go for nothing in a year’s time would have been unthinkable.
From a sporting perspective it’s less clear-cut though. Despite all the baggage that comes with him, Tevez was arguably City’s most effective striker. With Mario Balotelli having joined Milan in January, they’re now left with only Sergio Aguero and Edin Dzeko as recognised front men, and with the latter still to establish his first-team credentials, additional options up front are needed fast. Roberto Soldado and Alvaro Negredo have been mentioned but with respect to them, are they really on Tevez’s level? Robert Lewandowski is another name that’s popped up but as Bayern Munich have found already this summer, prising him away from Dortmund is easier said than done.
So it could be a tough one. Who would you like to see them sign?

Too many concerns over his fitness for me. Could de-stabilise the dressing room as well.
Can't argue with his goal scoring record though.
