When new movies were released in Africa back in the 80's and 90's, the country didn't have access to the original promo material for the films so they had the task of creating their own. Artists were brought in to create Hollywood-style posters on a shoe string budget and the results are pretty dodgy. The artwork is better than anything I could do but it's still pretty bad once you see it side-by-side next to the original movie poster.
During the military dictatorships in Ghana in 70s and 80s, restrictive laws cut off the importation of the large-scale of printing presses, which are used for making posters. Because of that, Ghanaians had to hand-make their own posters. These posters were used to advertise movies well into the 90s but after a change in the law, the printing press was allowed to be imported and so the hand-crafted posters eventually became obsolete.
These days, the old-school posters are so rare that they are highly sought after by art collectors and can fetch up to £10,00. Blimey.

Too be fair, 1 or 2 of these are and were not that bad (the 1st terminator 1 springs to mind) and i can appreciate that options were limited owing to the situation with the presses. That said, the rest of these did have me giggling. Possibly the worst offender here has to be the 'Fair Game' poster. Gotta say, the usually gorgeous Cindy does appear to have a very broad chin and masculine reatures. What with William Baldwin an his collagenn filled lips trying to smooch someone who more than likely was or still is, a geezer lol.
