The Greatest Showman

I try not to be automaticaly dismissive of certain genres of film but genreally when i hear the term 'musical' my eyes dont exactly light up. Personally have seen all of 2 musicals to date that i have really enjoyed (Rocky Horror and Phantom of the opera). On hearing of 'The Greatest Showman' coming out and hearingg the synopsis i wasnt exactly bowled over. Giving having nothing else to do this saturday afternoon, the weather being shite and seeing this available, thought i may as well..and am i ever glad i did..as much as it pains me to admit this about an all singing, all dancing musical, this was fantastic. Concerned about the tunes being of the old style circus ilk..dont be..the tunes feel appropriate, fresh, dare i say occasionally exciting. The film on the whole..im uusually a grumpy fucker most of the time but i swear it tookall the strength i had in my face not to start beaming from ear to ear..and this never happens. Fantastic story, fantastic performances, exciting, great tunes of a high calibre. Fans and non fans of musicals alike, suggest you do the same as me and rather than auto dismiss, check this out. Its as near a sure bet as i can give that you wont be disapointed.
